Spelt Hilopites from Agrozimi

Size

A Greek twist on spelt pasta! Tasty Greek hilopites look like fettuccine but come from the ancient Greek pasta, láganon. This delicious spelt version is bronze die-cut and made from robust spelt flour and the fresh spring water from the northern Greek village of Arávissos, where Agrozimi has been based for three generations. Spelt is a long-ago ancestor of today’s commercial wheat, and more easily digested, since its gluten has more water-soluble proteins. In fact, spelt’s total protein content is up to 25% higher than most typical wheat varieties. Spelt is an excellent source of iron, magnesium, zinc, vitamins B1 and B2, and beneficial fatty acids.

HOW TO USE IT

We love spelt hilopites as a wonderful base for vegan dishes. Their slightly nutty flavor can be enjoyed either plain with some olive oil or with one of Elli & Manos's rich tomato sauces. You’ll find an authentic Greek recipe inside the label and more ideas on our blog. While there is a suggested cooking time on the pack, try it for yourself and cook to taste, especially if you like your pasta “al dente”.
