Whole, pitted cherries are preserved, not candiied, floating in an all-natural syrup of sugar and water - no preservatives or additives at all, just simple island sweetness. “Spoon Sweets” are that quintessentially Greek accompaniment to coffee, and the sour cherry version is perhaps the most classic and well-known of them all. They are served as you’re welcomed to someone’s home, with a spoonful on a small plate.
