TRAVELING TO GREECE: MAGICAL MOUNT PARNITHA

Greece is so much more than ancient ruins and sparkling blue beaches! Just outside of Athens you'll find the pine & fir-covered slopes of Mount Parnitha, a welcome escape from the capital's hustle & bustle.

There are beautiful hikes, mountain biking paths, small churches & monasteries, a 4th century fortress to explore, rock climbing, caves....truly something for everybody! Whether you want to enjoy winter snow or cooler summer weather, Mount Parnitha is worth your time.

The Bafi & Flambouri Refuges are popular spots for hikers to grab a bite (traditional fasolada bean soup is a must!) and spend the night if you're planning on tackling the longer trails. Experienced trekkers will want to head to the Cave of Pan, where legend has it the mythological figure played his pipes. The entire mountain has been declared a national park, although there's also a casino (check if their cable car is running, if you want to save some time).
