Dried Figs from Kimi, Greece are crafted by Kumilio using traditional techniques from the island of Evia. Ripe figs are slit open and laid on wooden racks to naturally dry under the summer sun. Similarly-sized figs are then matched by hand to make pairs that are naturally sterilized and then vacuum-packed. Kimi figs, a unique Product of Designated Origin (PDO) are softer than other dried figs, thanks to the unique microclimate and soil of the region that give the figs a thinner skin. These award-winning Greek figs are high in soluble fiber, minerals like potassium, magnesium & calcium, and antioxidants. It's no wonder that dried figs have been the go-to healthy snack in the Mediterranean Diet ever since ancient times!
We chose Kumilio for their fforts to develop the unique Kimi figs naturally, without mechanical processing, keeping traditions in a way that is inextricably linked to the land. We appreciate that they work closely with other local producers, strengthening their community socially and financially.
