It is said that bergamot is the result of a hybrid of lemon and bitter orange, which may explain its unique bittersweet flavor. This traditional dessert is inspired by the unique citrus fruits brought centuries ago to the island of Chios by the Venetians. Handmade with pieces of bergamot citrus peel floating in a simple syrup of sugar, lemon juice and water - no preservatives or additives at all, just simple island sweetness. Enjoy it on its own or atop yogurt, ice cream, or cheesecake. It's a flavor unlike any other!

 

HOW TO USE IT

We love Spoon Sweets as a topping for cheesecake, flan, panna cotta, and flourless chocolate cake (recipe on our blog). You can also dice the peel and add to your favorite yogurt, overnight bowls, and cookies for a unique flavor. Pair cheeses with it for a unique sensorial experience. And of course, you can even enjoy it the traditional Greek way, as a spoonful of sweet luxury with your afternoon coffee. Bergamot has a sparkling bright color and almost crunchy texture that’s even better with tea, iced or hot.
