    Sour Cherry Spoon Sweet handmade by Citrus Chios

    Delicious sour cherries, vyssino, are the foundation of this traditional Greek fruit preserve. Whole, pitted cherries are preserved, not candied, floating in an all-natural syrup of sugar and water - no preservatives or additives at all, just simple island sweetness.  Vyssino is an all-natural alternative to maraschino cherries and are a childhood favorite, whether served as a spoonful on a small plate or in a tall glass of iced water for a special summer treat. Spoon sweets add versatility to your pantry, great as a quick topping on yogurt or ice cream or in your morning oatmeal.

    HOW TO USE IT

    We love Sour Cherry Vyssino, the most classic of Greek spoon sweets, as a topping for ice creams, cheesecake, flan, panna cotta & yogurt parfait. Add it to your chia pudding or morning oatmeal. Bring a special touch to your crepes, waffles, pancakes and muffins. Head to our blog for a delicious Black Forest Cake recipe or try in a Manhattan cocktail as an all-natural alternative to maraschino cherries.
